High Environmental Value

HEV (High Environmental Value) is an environmental certification for agricultural estates which is regulated by the French Ministry of Agriculture.
Its specifications charter applies to all of the estate’s activities.

This certification attests to the significant presence of elements of biodiversity (hedges, buffer strips, trees, flowers, insects) on the estate and that the impact of agricultural practices on the environment (air, climate, water, soil, biodiversity, landscapes) is reduced to a minimum.

The measures

HEV certification is a guarantee of environmental excellence based on performance indicators in four key areas in relation to biodiversity:

  • The presence of agroecological infrastructures such as hedges, green zones, woods, etc.
  • The reduction of phytosanitary products to below 20% of average quantities.
  • Control of fertilizer inputs.
  • Sustainable management of water resources.

Vinéa Natura

We have already applied all HEV measures for over 10 years in the context of our VINEA NATURA environmental charter, so it was a natural evolution for us to progress to this certification in which we have been pioneers.
Over the years we have adopted:

  • Cover cropping to supply stable and natural organic matter to the soils
  • Mulching or straw cover to provide nitrogen and various other naturel nutrients without recourse to chemical fertilizers, even organic ones. This also forms a green cover that conserves humidity and suppresses weed growth (we use no chemical weedkillers).
  • Sexual confusion to disorientate predators and thus avoid the use of insecticides.
  • Measures in support of biodiversity.
